ATC Patient FAQ

Q: What will my treatment look like?

A: It is our goal that as we individualize your treatment plan to fit your needs, you will gain insight, tools and strength to live a life of purpose and fulfillment. Your comprehensive individualized treatment plan may include:

Experiential learning on our nationally accredited Adventure Course to develop trust, teamwork and empowerment
Use of our Labyrinth, an ancient tool which provides reflection and relaxing meditation
Physical exercise each day in our recreation center, outdoor recreation area, gym and game room
Chapel for a personal sense of spirituality and quiet time
Expressive Therapies: art therapy, creative writing, journaling, drumming
Family involvement: family therapy, family education and family week
Weekly individual therapy sessions
Focus on family of origin, trauma and co-occurring disorders
Therapist-led group sessions
Educational lectures
Non-denominational spirituality groups
On-site 12-step meetings
Emphasis on relapse prevention
Aftercare planning

The ATC daily schedule is intended to model a healthy, structured routine that can be emulated in early recovery.

Q: What is the average length of stay?

A: Length of stay varies based on individual needs, program, and clinical progress during treatment. Insurance coverage and also become a factor in length of stay.

Q: What should I bring with me?

Insurance card/prescription card
All medications you are currently taking in their original, labeled containers
Casual, comfortable clothing that is suitable for public settings and respectful to others, such as jeans, slacks, full length shorts
Sleepwear and undergarments are required
Alcohol free personal care/hygiene items
Sneakers
Stamps
Small change for vending machines. Clients and visitors are encouraged to have less than $10 on their person. Additional money can be kept at the nurses station and requested as needed. The ATC staff make weekly Wal-Mart trips for patient needs/requests. Money being held will be returned when you leave.
Optional items you might enjoy include:

Q: What NOT to bring with me?

Firearms and other weapons
Clothing that depicts alcohol, drugs, or sex
Valuables such as jewelry
Large amounts of cash
Tobacco products
Cell phones, computers, iPads, other electronic devices, cameras, headphones
Mouthwashes with alcohol, colognes
Over-the-counter medications
Energy drinks

Q: Will I receive a refund if I leave treatment before successful completion?

A: A pro-rated fee will be assessed for those who leave the program prior to successful completion. Those who are asked to withdraw for failing to follow program guidelines will not receive a refund.

Q: Why would I be asked to leave the program?

A: You may be asked to withdraw from the treatment program if you leave the property without permission, use drugs/alcohol, fight or make any threat of violence. Any behavior that negatively affects another client’s recovery is cause for removal.

Q: Can I leave the campus?

A: To ensure that treatment is successful, off-campus outings or appointments are discouraged, and typically not allowed without official discharge from the program.

Q: Can I smoke while in treatment?

A: We are a tobacco-free campus. We can assist in smoking cessation or nicotine replacement therapy.

Q: Will my confidentiality and anonymity be protected?

A: Yes. Confidentiality and individual privacy are essential for quality treatment and expected of all staff and clients. We do our part. We ask all of our clients to do the same for each other. We ask clients to help provide a safe, comfortable atmosphere of recovery for those sharing this journey. There may be times, however, when it may be necessary for us to release certain information about you to protect you or the well-being of others.

Q: Are visitors allowed?

A: Visitation is scheduled for Sundays only, 1 to 4 p.m. and is based on your treatment plan. All visitations must be prearranged and all visitors must be approved. You and your counselor will work together to schedule visits and/or weekly family therapy. No visitation is allowed by those appearing unannounced.

Q: What if I need my medications?

A: Prior to admission, medications in original containers may be administered (following agency pharmacy policy). All medications will be stored in a secure area.

Q: Do patients have to make beds, clean and do other chores?

A: Patients are responsible to keep their rooms tidy on a daily basis. The Addictions Treatment Center has laundry and housekeeping items you can use.

Q: What is the policy for receiving mail and using the phone?

A: Mail can be received and will be opened in the presence of staff. Telephone use is based on scheduled times and the treatment needs of the patient.

Q: Is medical detoxification (detox) offered as part of treatment?

A: Upon admission, all patients undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation of their physical health and receive social detoxification services, as necessary. We can provide referral sources for patients who are in need of more intensive medical detox.
